Anastasia Tsybulyak, founder of the Glossary Eco Foundation, shared her vision of sustainable development in business and its importance for the future of our planet. In an interview with Forbes France, she explained why environmental responsibility has become the new standard of success for companies.

The role of sustainable development in business.

Sustainable development is no longer just a trend, but a necessity for the successful functioning of business. Anastasia emphasizes: “Sustainable development allows companies not only to reduce their environmental impact, but also to open up new opportunities for innovation and development. It is about creating value that goes beyond financial profit.” She cites examples of world leaders such as Tesla or Unilever, which have successfully integrated sustainable practices into their business strategies, which has provided them with consumer trust and competitive advantages.

Conscious consumers are the key to success.

Today’s consumers, especially young people, are increasingly choosing brands that match their values. “People want to support businesses that operate responsibly. This is the new reality of the market, and companies that don’t understand this risk losing customers,” Anastasia notes. According to her, more than 90% of companies from the global G250 list already report on their environmental initiatives, which indicates a change in business culture.

The problem of “greenwashing”.

At the same time, Anastasia warns about the dangers of “greenwashing” – a situation where companies only imitate environmental responsibility. “Greenwashing destroys trust and undermines real efforts to preserve the environment. Businesses must be honest with customers and work for real change,” she says.
The war in Ukraine and its environmental impact. Among other important topics raised by Anastasia is the devastating consequences of the war in Ukraine for the environment. “We have witnessed ecocide: polluted rivers, destroyed forests, contaminated land. This catastrophe will have long-term consequences for ecosystems,” she says.
However, despite difficult conditions, Ukrainian ecologists are actively working to restore nature and document environmental crimes.
