Changes in the import of cars into Ukraine from 2025: what you need to know
From January 1, 2025, new rules for importing cars will come into force in Ukraine. This is an important innovation aimed at improving the environmental situation, but it has its limitations. Only “Euro-6”. If it is currently allowed to import cars of the “Euro-2” standard (manufactured after 1996), then from 2025 only cars of the “Euro-6” standard (manufactured after 2015) will be allowed.
The ban will affect:
– semi-trailer tractors,
– buses,
– trucks,
– special equipment (truck cranes, tow trucks, etc.),
– new cars upon first registration.
Used cars of the “Euro-2” standard (manufactured after 1996) remain allowed. The exception is electric cars, since they do not have an internal combustion engine.
Exceptions to the rules. The new restrictions will not apply to cars imported:
– as humanitarian aid,
– for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Implications for the auto market. These changes may have a positive impact on the environment, but prices for both new and used cars are expected to increase.
